OCNH Comes to the Aid of Displaced Persons in the Communes of Lascahobas and Mirebalais

Port-au-Prince, February 24, 2026.- The Citizen Organization for a New Haiti (OCNH) distributed over 1,500 kits on Sunday, February 22, 2026, to displaced persons, particularly women victims of violence in the communes of Mirebalais and Saut-d’Eau. The distributed kits, composed of essential hygiene products, aim to preserve the health and safety of beneficiaries while strengthening their autonomy.

The operation, funded by the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund, took place notably at the École Nationale Immaculée Conception, one of the sites selected for humanitarian action. The assessment identified several urgent priorities, including access to healthcare, food security, sanitation, economic autonomy, and civil registration.

This distribution occurred during a needs assessment mission for internally displaced persons across the four sites in the commune of Lascahobas.

“Women and children are the main victims of gang violence in the country,” the organization stated, recalling that victims largely suffer the consequences of forced displacement.

Given the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in the country, OCNH calls on national and international actors to intensify their actions on the ground to assist the most vulnerable people in the sites, while emphasizing the need for authorities and national actors to implement all measures to restore security throughout the national territory.
