Launch of Rehabilitation Work for the Carrefour Rita – Carrefour Clercine Road

Tabarre, Tuesday, March 10, 2026. – The Haitian government laid the first stone on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for the road section connecting Carrefour Rita to Carrefour BIM, in the commune of Tabarre. This infrastructure is awaited by local residents and presented as a strong signal of the authorities' will to relaunch priority projects. 900 meters long, this road segment will be rehabilitated over a period of three months, under the project management of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC), in collaboration with the Tabarre City Hall. The ceremony took place in the presence of Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, the president of the Tabarre Communal Commission, Arsonval Alexandre, and the Secretary of State for Local Authorities. This project follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the ministry and the city hall, aiming to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve mobility in a strategic area of the metropolitan region. For Arsonval Alexandre, it is an “initiative of paramount importance” for local development, intended to open up the neighborhood and facilitate the daily commutes of users. Action as a Compass Speaking, Minister Pierre Louis reaffirmed his commitment to follow the directives of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to “support local authorities and accelerate the relaunch of infrastructure.” In a statement intended to be unequivocal, he emphasized: “I am not a man of the office. Action and results are my main source of inspiration.” This statement reflects a clear desire to break with a certain administrative culture deemed too slow, in a country where the infrastructure deficit is a major impediment to economic development and urban fluidity. The section concerned, though modest in length, is part of a broader logic of rehabilitating the road network of the capital and its suburbs. A Test for Governmental Credibility Beyond its symbolism, this project will represent a test of the ministerial team's ability to meet announced deadlines and produce tangible results. In a context marked by persistent security challenges and chronic public distrust of government promises, the effective completion of these 900 meters of road could help restore some credibility to government action.
